Rachel Campos-Duffy's Tips for Juggling Parenting with Working from Home
Rachel Campos-Duffy does not rely on a nanny to juggle her growing brood with her part-time work, but she does think we can alter our parenting style so we can have a life while we parent.
"It's OK not to be on the entertainment committee with your child every waking moment," says Campos-Duffy. "It's OK to just tell them that you're working right now or exercising or whatever. Unless it's a crisis, it's good for your children to see you having a parallel adult life."
She also swears by having a person come in to help clean, once a week if possible, but every other week at the very least. "I felt guilty about having a cleaning person come in when I first started, but then realized it was a worthy expense," says Campos-Duffy. "It allows me to spend the time with my children when I'm not working. Sean and I have always seen it as a necessity, not a luxury, and one that's worth making sacrifices for in other areas."
