Advice for Pregnant Women
Caryl: "Be nice to yourself. The hardest part is watching your body fall apart – it takes its toll. Warn your husband and set up the rules right away. Tell him, 'I won't be looking good – get used to it!'"
Marilyn: "Any mother that has a baby should let her body start to form itself again when it wants to. Your body needs time to adjust, to do what it needs to do. My friend lost her baby and did a great job of mourning, but then she wanted to get rid of the pouch on her belly. I told her, 'That's your body from your baby.' That pouch is my baby place."
Advice for Breastfeeding
Caryl: "Don't give up too soon. Work through the pain."
Marilyn: "Stow away minutes for yourself. It's a challenge not to forget yourself." Advice for new moms
Caryl: "After baby begins eating solids and you change those diapers – get a gas mask."
Marilyn: "When you have your first-born, you get anxious for them to do the next thing, to look forward to the next level. Savor the level they're on."
Advice for Moms of Toddlers
Caryl: "You'll need eyes in the back of your head. It's all about containment when they're toddlers."
Marilyn: "There's no such thing as the terrible 2s. Every phase is special."
