Trista Sutter
The Bachelorette Has a Baby
Reality TV stars come and go, and few linger in your memory longer than the next season of Survivor or The Apprentice. Trista Sutter is one of the most memorable. Perhaps it's because she was the first Bachelorette or because she's likely the only reality dating show star who is actually still with the one she chose on the show – or maybe it's because she and her husband, Ryan, got married on national television. Whatever the case, Trista has more staying power than most.
And now, another first for reality TV dating stars everywhere: Trista, 34, is pregnant with her first child. We talked to Trista about the challenge of trying to conceive, her pregnancy and married life with her fireman hubby.
TS: It did take us quite awhile to become pregnant, but we were able to conceive naturally and hope to do so again. I have never bought into the idea that if you don't get pregnant after the magic number of one year, that there is something wrong with you.
Unfortunately, though, many women are unable to become pregnant within a year these days, whether related to our rushed way of life, years of birth control or a delay in starting a family until our 30s. When that happens, you are labeled with a diagnosis of infertility and can feel "abnormal." Thankfully, I always believed that it would happen when it was supposed to, and it did.
TS: I think having a baby will only make the relationship I have with my husband stronger. I cannot wait to share this experience with him! Married life is wonderful – everything I dreamed of and more.

TS: The pregnancy has been pretty difficult until last week. I'm now starting to have lots more energy and an actual appetite. For two to three months, I was incredibly nauseous, making it a chore to even get out of my pajamas every day. Not fun, but completely worth it.
|
TS: I am hoping to start Pilates this week and will be taking many more walks, especially when the weather becomes nicer up here in the mountains. I'm trying to be more conscious about drinking enough water and getting as many fruits and veggies in my diet as possible. I've also been diligent in taking prenatal vitamins, as well as Expecta Lipil every night.
|
TS: Definitely. I crave salads, potatoes and fruit. Since I was nauseous for so long, I will eat whatever I can these days.
TS: We won't be finding out the baby's sex. We want to go the old-school route and be surprised.

iP: Any name ideas? Will it be a family name?TS: We do, but we will be keeping those secret until the big day.
TS: Everything. It has been my only true dream in life, other than finding Ryan, and I just can't wait for every little part – even the late nights and dirty diapers!
